How to Crack GATE 2020?
Before understanding how to crack the GATE examination, ask yourself, “Are you ready to compete with all the talented engineers in India? Are you ready to take a prominent job in PSUs or get into IISC or IITs?”.
Cracking the gate exam is going to happen by a routine structured hard work with the right attitude. Challenge the understanding that you have on the concepts of engineering and make yourself prepared for one of the most competitive exams in India for engineers.
Before preparing for the GATE 2020, you should have the right attitude. There has never been a debate on the difficulty of GATE examination. Cracking GATE is difficult and it is an underlined fact. Of the lakhs of engineers attending the GATE, only a mere 20% of them are able to crack the exam. So if you are serious about preparing for GATE exam, decide on where you want your name coming in the Rank List. Once you set your aim, you should be mentally prepared to do whatever it takes to reach there.
As soon as you start your preparations, believe that you will reach your destination if you follow the plans you set. This approach would provide peace of mind and concentration for your studies and you will be able to work hard with more satisfaction. Never worry about your competitors, instead focus on the syllabus you need to cover. Study with such passion, so that the whole process becomes a routine of your life. This would help you a lot even after the success of your GATE exam, because IITs or IISc requires only these kind of aspirers on their campus.
PLAN, WORK HARD AND WIN
We already spoke about setting an AIM for the GATE exam. Now, what it will it take to reach that aim? Say your aim was to get the 1st Rank, then how much time are you ready to sacrifice for it. You know where you stand now, from there to your aim, it will be a long journey and the time it takes can be too long. So understand that every minute is valuable and such a thirsty attitude will help you reap all the success you need.
Cracking the GATE examination or getting the first rank in GATE 2019, is just a beginning of your successful professional life. Why we are telling you this is because, once you become ready to work hard to reap your goals, it will become habitual and you will go on creating new aims and eventually hunt them down. Hard work alone does not suffice for cracking GATE, it should also have a well-structured strategy personalized for your knowledge of engineering. So hardworking based on a great strategy with the right attitude will take you to your destination.
PLANNING FOR GATE 2020
- STUDY EACH AND EVERY SUBJECTS
Gate is an examination to assess an engineer. So all the subjects will have its own role to play. We must have a complete awareness of our engineering subjects. Give more attention to your core subjects, but never leave any subjects. Try to cover the complete syllabus.
CORELATE AND LEARN
Engineering subjects are related to one another in some way or the other. To understand the correlation between these, you should have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of each subject. Comparing these relations while studying will help you to strengthen your engineering concepts.
ATTEND SEVERAL MOCK EXAMS
Exam pressure can affect your thinking abilities. So after you prepare your subjects, try giving as many mock exams as possible as this will give you confidence in yourself. Such examinations will also give you a feedback on how good your preparations are reflecting. You yourself can identify your weak and strong regions. Cultivate a habit of analyzing what went wrong for each of your mock examinations and make sure, you never repeat that mistakes again.
The GATE Syllabus is complete and elaborate. All the questions asked will be from this syllabus only. So make sure that you don’t waste your valuable time on something which is not in the Syllabus.
After 2014, syllabus and pattern for the GATE exam have changed.. Even though GATE questions rarely repeat, the concept which the questions covers always repeats. If we analyze the question papers up to 2014, we can see a common pattern or questions that always cover some particular concepts.
Studying the syllabus completely doesn’t mean that you need to study each and every point given in the syllabus. Some portions require more importance as they might have repeated questions throughout the GATE examination history. For example, in the detailed syllabus of Network Theory, you can see a portion of transient. In GATE point of view, studying transient does not mean that to study all the theories and concepts associated with transient. We need an analytic approach, for instance in the case of ‘transient’ first order system using RC and LC circuit are mostly asked from that portion. So give more preference for the same while you are learning ‘Transient’. Analyzing the previous year GATE questions will make you aware, on which portions need more importance. So inorder to understand the GATE exam, understand the syllabus first.
PREFERENCE OF SUBJECTS
- The subjects like Network Theory, Mathematics and Signals and System have to be given more preference, because the understanding of these subjects will affect other core subjects.
- While you are studying, mix up simple and tough subjects. If you continuously spend more time on a particular subject, you will finally feel exhausted. So choose one easy subject along with one tough subject, while you are studying.
SELECTION OF MATERIAL & BOOKS
Whenever you are doubt about a particular concept that is been asked in the problem, always refer standard engineering textbooks.( For example Electrical Machines and Power electronics books by Bimbra)
