We, sigma group educational academy is working in the field of GATE and ESE coaching for the past five years. Sigma group educational academy started assistant professor coaching for moulding best teaching faculties in Government College for the future generation of engineers. On the basis of the question papers of ECE and EEE departments in the examination held last week we decided to put forward some facts in front of you regarding the same. The question paper for EEE was more or less acceptable for this time bounded exam. May be we can tell that the EEE exam was for humans and the ECE exam was for………
Solve ECE question paper in 75 minutes, Kerala PSC might be joking. For a normal PSC examination that gives you 75 minutes to solve 100 questions, you will get 45 second to answer one question. That means about 30 seconds to read and understand the question and the remaining 15 seconds to answer it. Most of the questions has to be direct questions so that the candidates can go through all the questions at least once. But when analyzing the ECE question paper it’s a distant dream. Solving most of the questions in 5 mins is a difficult task. And there are some exclusive questions that are specially for draining your precious time. If you get into those questions then you are trapped… You spend time on them and finally realizing that the correct answer is not even present in the options given. Options provided for some questions does not make any sense too and for some other questions even God may also look to sky for finding answers without calculator. Some questions may take about 30 minutes to get solved (even with a calculator). Remember those snakes in the snake and ladder game. These are some of those…
This examination was never meant for those good engineers who are interested in solving logical and analytical questions. In this case, you tried to attend those questions then you will be on the losing side. The GK section which carries 20 marks where tough too. After all scoring those questions from Basic Civil, Basic Mechanical etc. was the easiest. Those who sincerely studied their own core engineering subjects will regret a lot. There may be a good chance for those who make blind guess with some options. Some questions from Network Analysis, EMT, and Digital Electronics have the toughness more than the ESE Conventional examination questions. .
Logic behind asking to find the value of 10*p, x/2 etc. in the questions is still unknown to us. May be the one who prepared the question paper enjoyed a mental satisfaction by doing so. Because they didn’t do anything (copy-paste) and they want to do something. After all it feels like the question setters are unaware of the greatness of this job because they are the creators of excellent teachers those who mould the new generation of engineers in Kerala. But unfortunately what happened is that they have picked these questions from somewhere without spending much time behind each subject. Seems like the question setters are not concerned about the difficulty and depth of the questions asked. They just did their work for the sake of completing the task. Every exam should follow a hierarchy in the difficulty in answering the questions. Most likely about 25% of questions in the examination is simple and another 25% should be average questions. The remaining 50% questions is divided equally to above average and excellent questions. By this we can make a moderate cut off marks that will help to find the deserved ones. Last exam happened in the year of 2006. May the next exam will be in 2025, means that it’s better to forget this job for those who are above 30 years old. The effort of those people who spent lots and lots of hours behind their books for the passion of teaching was simply neglected by those who are behind this examination.
